Russian law enforcement agencies have voiced new details of the alleged assassination attempt on the so-called governor of Kherson region Volodymyr Saldo, which took place in the summer of 2022.
This is reported by Kremlin-controlled media.
According to the Russian security forces’ version, a homemade explosive was placed near one of the restaurants in Kherson that Saldo regularly visited. The explosive was disguised and installed near the entrance to the establishment.
However, it is claimed that the device detonated prematurely — at a moment when Saldo himself was not nearby. Russian investigators cite an accidental press of a button on the remote control by one of the accused as the cause.
In the attempt on Saldo the Russian investigation has accused three Ukrainian citizens. They are accused of participation in a “terrorist community”, an “act of international terrorism” and an attempt on life. Currently all three are being held in custody unlawfully.
Note that this concerns events of June 2022. Then an explosion occurred at the Kherson restaurant “Nostalgie”.
At the time it was claimed that this very restaurant was often visited by representatives of the occupying authorities in Kherson, including Saldo. Thus an explosive was allegedly planted there to eliminate one of the pseudo-officials.
Last year this restaurant was completely destroyed as a result of a fire following Russian shelling.
