Kherson region is among the regions where preparations for the heating season and the deployment of alternative generation are progressing more slowly.
This was stated in an interview with “Ukrinform” by the Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine — Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Kuleba.
According to him, on average across the country preparatory work to protect critical infrastructure has been completed by more than 50%. Some facilities have already moved on to construction work — there are over 300 of them.
The situation with alternative energy varies between regions. Kyiv, Cherkasy and Kharkiv regions are moving faster. The pace is slower in Chernivtsi, Poltava and Kherson oblasts. There, according to Kuleba, projects, procurements and construction need to be accelerated.
He also emphasized that the deadline for communities is October 1, 2026, when resilience plans must be completed: the launch of backup generation and the protection of critical infrastructure.
It should be recalled that, according to the head of the Kherson MVA Yaroslav Shanko, the 2025-26 heating season was for Kherson the most difficult in the entire history of independent Ukraine. This was caused by the shutdown of the Kherson CHPP, constant shelling of “Khersonteploenergo” facilities and the overall security situation in the community.
