On the left bank of the Kherson region, the occupiers are creating an institute of “public representatives” of the so-called children’s ombudsman.
This was stated by the occupation-appointed children’s rights commissioner in the region, Iryna Kravchenko.
According to her, during 2026 they plan to appoint such representatives in each so-called municipality of the region.
The occupiers claim that this will allow them to “more quickly resolve issues locally”, undertake humanitarian missions, and monitor compliance with children’s rights.
Note that Russia deported at least 20 thousand Ukrainian children, although the exact number is unknown due to the war and occupation; Ukrainian authorities have identified about 19.5 thousand of them with approximate locations, and about 800 (or 1,880, according to other data) have been returned.
