The students of the Kherson Regional Comprehensive Children and Youth Sports School for Boxing and Other Sports won 8 medals at the Open European Kyokushin Budo Karate Championship in all categories.
This was reported by the Kherson Regional State Administration.
First place in the kata division in the weight category up to 65 kg and age category 14–15 years was won by Oleksandr Sherstiuk.

Second places in the kumite division were won by: Damir Shestak in the weight category up to 30 kg and age 10–11 years, Serhii Luhanskyi in the weight category over 80 kg and age 16–17 years, Mykhailo Dragan in the weight category up to 70 kg and age category over 18 years, Olga Ishchenko in the weight category over 70 kg and age category over 18 years.
Bronze medals were won by: Vladyslav Movchan in the kata division in the weight category up to 50 kg and age 14–15 years, Sofia Andriushchenko in the kumite division in the weight category up to 55 kg among women over 18 years, Dmytro Veryovkin in the kumite division in the weight category over 60 kg and age category 12–13 years.


The champion and the prize-winners were prepared for the competition by coaches Oleg Zhirov and Oryna Zhirova.
The tournament took place in the Polish city of Poznan. More than 600 of the strongest athletes from Ukraine, Poland, India, Germany, Chile, Pakistan, the Czech Republic, Armenia, Georgia and Kazakhstan took part in the competition.
