Pupils of Kherson children’s and youth physical training club No. 4 won a number of awards at the European Karate Championships held in the Polish city of Poznań.
This was reported by the Department of Education of the Kherson City Council.
The competition took place on April 11, 2026. Fourteen Kherson athletes took part, prepared by club coaches Mykhailo Chernov and Oleksandr Platov.
As a result of the performances, the athletes won gold, silver and bronze awards in the kata and kumite events.
In particular, gold was won by Oleksandr Naidenko, Varvara Kovbel, Dmytro Palamarchuk (kata) and Sofiya Fedyash (kumite).
Silver awards were received by Sofiya Fedyash, Myron Dudchenko, Zakhar Kovbel (kata), as well as Kateryna Hamarts, Makar Fedyash and Varvara Kovbel (kumite).
Bronze medals were won by Danylo Kapur, Rostyslav Ebert, Makar Fedyash (kata) and Nazar Kononenko, Eney Skalozub, Zakhar Kovbel and Bohdan Lavrikov (kumite).
In addition, club coach Mykhailo Chernov won a silver medal in the kata event.
