The National Commission on State Language Standards at an open meeting on October 7, 2025 adopted decision No. 343, which approved a list of territorial communities whose names need to be brought into compliance with the state language standards. This list also included the well-known settlement in the Kherson region — Askania-Nova (Kakhovskyi district).

According to the Commission’s decision, the correct form of the name in Ukrainian should be Askaniie-Nova.
As a reminder, in June this year in the Oleshky community they renamed a number of toponyms.
