As part of the state program to fund safe education in the Kherson region, five school shelters are planned to be equipped.
This was reported by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
In total, the government allocated UAH 5 billion in subsidies for the creation of 113 shelters in 22 regions. Financing is being carried out in stages: UAH 2.04 billion — for the first 30 projects, including in communities with a very high level of security risk and for military lyceums; UAH 230 million — to complete 22 facilities with readiness over 60%.
Today the government approved an additional UAH 2.73 billion for 61 projects, most of which will be implemented in communities with a high level of risk.
The new shelters will enable thousands of students to study in-person or in a hybrid format in safer conditions.
According to official data, in September last year 170 general secondary education institutions began classes, where 50.6 thousand students study. At the same time, in the Kherson region only six underground educational institutions are operating.
