Ukrainian artist Zhanna Kadyrova presented the video installation The Forest at the CTM music-visual festival in Berlin. The project is dedicated to the ecological catastrophe in southern Ukraine. The exhibition explores the transformation of the territory of the former Kakhovka Reservoir after the dam was blown up by Russian forces in June 2023.
This is stated on the CTM festival page.
The central element of the exhibition is an installation with a boat positioned at the level of the former water surface. Today the vessel looks as if it is sinking into the dense undergrowth of a young forest that has rapidly grown in just one year.

The works of artist Zhanna Kadyrova are combined with archival materials and documents, allowing visitors to gain a comprehensive understanding of the history of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant.
The exhibition «Echoes of Tumult», of which this project is a part, will run in Berlin until March 22 with support from international partners, including the DAAD and the Goethe-Institut in Ukraine.
Recall that, the dam of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant, which was located near the now-occupied city of Nova Kakhovka in the Kherson region, was destroyed on June 6, 2023. On June 18, the Kakhovka Reservoir effectively ceased to exist.
As a result of the detonation, almost 10,000 hectares of wetlands of international importance were destroyed.
