On March 9, 2026, the Zavodskyi District Court of Kamianske, Dnipropetrovsk region found Maksym Yarmolenko, a native of Skadovskyi district who joined the Russian army, guilty of treason and collaborationist activities.

The court found that in January 2024 Yarmolenko, while in Yekaterinburg, Russia, voluntarily went to a military enlistment office and signed a contract with the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. He was assigned to the 15th Separate Guards Motor Rifle Brigade as a driver.
In February he was sent to Rostov-on-Don, and then to Luhansk region for training. On February 23, 2024 Yarmolenko was transferred to the Horlivka district of Donetsk region. On March 1 he received a combat mission near the village of Berdichi in Pokrovsk district, where he was captured by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
At the trial Yarmolenko admitted guilt but refused to give testimony.
The court sentenced him to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
According to journalists, at the beginning of the full-scale invasion Yarmolenko was already serving a sentence for robbery in the Dariivska colony in Kherson region. In 2013 in Skadovsk he attacked a man, beat him and robbed him.
For this the court gave him eight years in prison and ordered him to pay the victim 50,000 hryvnias.
Earlier it was reported that the court sentenced Kherson resident Nataliya Taranets, who worked as chief accountant at a large corporation that cooperated with the occupiers.
