A Kherson native, leader of the local “National Corps” Ivan Starostenko has been appointed commander of the 1st mechanized battalion of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade (3rd Army Corps).
This was revealed in a Schemes report.
The 3rd Separate Assault Brigade (3 OShBr) — one of the most combat-capable units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, formed in January 2023 on the basis of veterans of the Special Operations Forces «Azov».
The brigade specializes in complex assault operations, urban combat and clearing fortified positions. The unit is known for a high level of personnel training, its own sergeant schools and the active adoption of modern technologies, in particular unmanned systems.
Recall that in the autumn of 2022 the Russians carried out a search of Ivan Starostenko’s residence.
