The court handed down a verdict against Kherson resident Nataliya Dubnina, who during the occupation of the city agreed to run the Kherson Maritime College of Fisheries.
The verdict was published on the website of the Unified State Register of Court Decisions.
As the investigation established, in the summer of 2022 Dubnina took a job at the occupied Kherson Maritime College of Fisheries and received the position of deputy director for educational work. Later she became head of the academic department at the same college.
In this role Dubnina was involved in selecting teaching staff, carried out campaigning activities to start the college’s operation under the educational standards of the Russian Federation, joined the institution’s admissions committee and accepted admission documents. Also, after the start of classes she taught computer science at the college.
In addition, Dubnina gave interviews to Russian media in which she denied the Russian Federation’s armed aggression against Ukraine, the verdict says.
Interviewed witnesses said that before the full-scale invasion Dubnina worked at the college as a laboratory assistant. According to witnesses, she went to work for the occupying authorities voluntarily. In particular, in a group chat Dubnina wrote that she had become the new director of the institution and urged teachers to come to work. She also encouraged the cadets to continue their studies at the occupied college.
Having examined the evidence, the court in absentia found Nataliya Dubnina guilty of collaborationist activities. She was sentenced to 3 years of imprisonment.
