The court issued a verdict against the occupation-appointed head of the colony in Stara Zbur’iyivka in the Kherson region, Oleksii Soroka.
The verdict was published on the website of the Unified State Register of Court Decisions.
As the investigation established, in May 2022 Soroka took a job as deputy head of the Holoprystanska Correctional Colony No. 7, which at that time was under the control of occupying forces.
In April 2023 Soroka voluntarily took charge of the colony, assuming the position of head.
A witness also confirmed the fact of his cooperation with the occupation authorities. Thus, a witness questioned at the court hearing said that before the full-scale invasion he worked as the first deputy head of the State Institution “Holoprystanska Correctional Colony (No.7)”, and Soroka worked as deputy head for social and educational work.
The witness knows that after the start of the occupation Soroka accepted the offer and remained working for the occupation authorities and later headed the institution.
Having examined the evidence, the court issued a verdict in absentia against Oleksii Soroka. He was found guilty under Part 7 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – collaborationist activity and was sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
