A newly formed detachment of unmanned aerial vehicles “SAFRON” has arrived in the occupied part of the Kherson region.
This was reported by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), citing Russian military bloggers.
According to analysts, this unit was formed on the basis of the 4th Russian military base (58th Combined Arms Army of the Southern Military District). The main task of the newly arrived detachment — to intercept Ukrainian heavy drones that are actively operating over the Dnipro and coastal areas.
Despite the strengthening of technical capabilities, Russian sources complain about the difficult conditions of conducting combat in the Dnipro delta. In particular, Russian “war correspondents” note that the terrain relief and specific soils hinder the invaders’ attempts to seize the islands, and poorer logistical conditions complicate advancement and consolidation on new positions in the marshes.
