Former judge of the Kherson District Administrative Court Serhii Varnyak has been notified of suspicion of collaborationist activity.
This was reported in a statement by the newspaper Uryadovyi Kurier.
Varnyak is suspected of voluntarily taking a position in illegal judicial bodies in the temporarily occupied territory.
However, he never became a judge of the occupation arbitration court.
It is known that in 2023 he even tried in court to challenge the refusal to appoint him as a judge. However, the Crimean court denied his claim, and in 2024 the cassation court upheld that refusal.
Instead, the Russians appointed the former judge of the Kherson District Administrative Court Serhii Varnyak as a public representative to the occupation qualification board of judges of the Kherson region.
The decision on this 11 July 2024 was adopted by the occupation regional Duma chaired by Tetiana Tomilina.
As MOST reported earlier, on 4 June 2024 the High Council of Justice dismissed the judge of the Kherson District Administrative Court Serhii Varnyak.
In February 2024, after an appeal by the Security Service of Ukraine, the Second Disciplinary Chamber of the High Council of Justice adopted a decision to open disciplinary proceedings against Varnyak.
According to the High Council of Justice, after the de-occupation of Kherson the judge moved to the temporarily occupied left bank of the Kherson region, obtained Russian documents and is cooperating with the occupation authorities.
