The Kherson City Court found former Kherson police officer Pavlo Pavlyk guilty of collaborationism after he agreed to work for the occupying authorities.
This was revealed by the court verdict.
As the investigation found, in July 2022 Pavlyk voluntarily took the position of acting senior operative officer of the criminal investigation unit of the Korabelnyi police department under the occupying Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kherson region.
During the investigation, law enforcement officers found orders appointing pseudo-police officers and lists of employees of the occupation police, and Pavlyk was among them.
Witnesses also confirmed Pavlyk’s cooperation with the Russians. In particular, a former police officer said that many colleagues knew that Pavlyk had gone to work for the occupiers. The witness also said that another collaborator directly offered him a job in the occupation structures, noting that “many of ours”, including Pavlo Pavlyk, had already switched to the side of the occupiers.
Also among those interviewed was the mother of a police officer who previously worked with Pavlyk. She said that during the occupation a group of Russian servicemen arrived at her home to conduct a search, and Pavlyk was among them. He personally gave orders to the Russian soldiers and threatened “to take the mother to the basement” to force her son to come to interrogation. Later her son was detained, beaten and tortured.
The court in absentia found Pavlo Pavlyk guilty under Part 7 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (collaborationist activity). He was sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
It was previously reported that a former deputy from Kherson region received 12 years for serving in an occupied penal colony.
