Former deputy prosecutor of the Kherson regional prosecutor’s office Kostiantyn Shabunyaiev, who, according to journalists, had contacted the suspect in the murder of Kateryna Handziuk, Ihor Pavlovskyi, in the summer of 2018 may head JSC “Odesa Port Plant”.
Interfax-Ukraine reports on the possible appointment.
The relevant issue has been put to an extraordinary shareholders’ meeting of OPZ, which is being held remotely from April 24 to May 5 this year.
Shabunyaiev held the position of deputy prosecutor of Kherson region from October 2015 to September 2020.
As of July 2022 he continued to work within the regional prosecutor’s office as a department prosecutor.
In December 2022 Shabunyaiev changed his profile, moving to OPZ as director of personnel and social affairs.
As noted above, Shabunyaiev is known for having contacted by phone the suspect in the case of the deadly attack on Kateryna Handziuk, Ihor Pavlovskyi, more than 80 times.
At the time Shabunyaiev confirmed his communication with Ihor Pavlovskyi, explaining it by work-related matters. Pavlovskyi, as an assistant to MP Mykola Palamarchuk, allegedly brought him appeals and requests to the prosecutor’s office.
Later Palamarchuk himself stated that he did not pass on any requests through Ihor Pavlovskyi, because it was not within his authority.
