In the Novooleksandrivska community, another location of the national project “Unified Route through Places of Memory” has appeared — it became a torture chamber that the occupiers set up in the premises of the Bilyaivskyi Lyceum.
This was reported by the Kherson Regional Military Administration.
From March to October 2022, Russian military forces turned the local lyceum into their commandant’s office. One of the institution’s rooms was used for the unlawful detention of civilian men. According to eyewitness accounts, detainees were subjected to brutal torture. At least two people are known to have died as a result of the torture, and their burial sites remain unknown.
“These route points are equipped with QR codes linking to videos and chronicles, and informational steles, in order to transform places of pain into collective memory,” – the post says.
The project is implemented by the State Agency for Tourism Development of Ukraine together with the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development. Organizers note that similar memory locations will soon appear in every community of Kherson Oblast where the occupying forces left their bloody trace.
Earlier, locations within this project appeared in Kherson.
