Kherson resident Yuliia Hryn, who worked for Russian intelligence during 2023–2024, was sentenced to life imprisonment with confiscation of all property.
This is stated in the court verdict.
The investigation found that Hryn, for ideological reasons, made contact with representatives of the Russian Federation via Telegram. Her handlers were the so‑called deputy minister of internal affairs of the “DPR”, Oleksiy Dykyi, and the commander of the UAV detachment of the Russian 70th motorized rifle division with the callsign “Odeskyi”.
The woman’s task was to identify locations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, routes of equipment movement, and the results of shelling in Kherson.
Yuliia Hryn provided the Russians with Google coordinates of sites that were later shelled. Among her “targets” were the Lileia holiday base, where the woman repeatedly recorded the presence of Ukrainian military personnel in 2023; residential buildings where, in her opinion, AFU fighters and National Police officers lived; the OKKO gas station (Hryn tracked the exact times when military vehicles entered the station); and vehicles — she sent videos of burned military cars and recorded movements of equipment through the city’s streets.
At the court hearing, Yuliia Hryn fully admitted her guilt.
The defense asked to take into account the partial admission of guilt, sincere remorse, and the fact that the defendant’s actions did not cause harm to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The lawyer also referred to the death of the defendant’s child and, in connection with this, asked for a sentence below the minimum — namely 10 years’ imprisonment.
However, for state treason under martial law (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), the woman was sentenced to life imprisonment with confiscation of all property.
The woman is married and, prior to her arrest, worked in the Department of Education, Culture, Youth and Sports of the Bilozerka settlement council.
