The National Police of Ukraine has notified a resident of annexed Crimea, Ihor Savchenko, of suspicion; he took a job with the occupation police in Kherson.
This was reported on the website of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
According to law enforcement, in the summer of 2022 Savchenko arrived in occupied Kherson to get a job.
His career began as the acting deputy head of the Korable Police Department in Kherson, where he carried out operational work and was awarded by the occupiers the rank of “police major”.
In August 2022 he was appointed head of the same Korable Police Department. He remained in this position until the right-bank part of the region was liberated.
On the left bank of the region, Savchenko headed another illegal body — the so-called Nyzhni Sirohozy branch of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation in Henichesk district. According to investigators, he continues to lead this branch, located in the settlement of Nyzhni Sirohozy, to this day.
He is currently suspected under ch. 7 art. 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – collaborationist activity. The investigation continues.
