The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a resolution that allows directing part of Japan’s grant support funds to recovery projects, in particular to strengthening water supply systems in a number of cities, including Kherson.
This is stated on the Ministry for Communities Development website.
Under the decision, the Recovery Agency receives over UAH 334 million to procure water treatment equipment and machinery for uninterrupted water supply. It will be transferred to the water utilities of Kharkiv, Dnipro, Mykolaiv, Kherson and Kyiv.
Also, within the framework of the JICA international technical assistance project, specialized vehicles for road inspection were provided. Currently, procurement of additional equipment for these vehicles is being prepared, which will allow for instrumental inspection of roads in the regions affected by the war.
Besides water supply and roads, grant resources will also go to equipment for stable energy supply, equipping educational institutions, equipment for humanitarian demining by the State Emergency Service (DSNS), medical equipment, and strengthening state border security.
Recall that since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, the damage inflicted on the aquatic and marine ecosystems of Kherson Oblast, amounted to almost 1.3 billion hryvnias.
