The Security Service of Ukraine has notified brigadier general of the Aerospace Forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Abdollah Mehrabi of suspicion.
This is stated on the website of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
According to the investigation materials, it was Abdollah Mehrabi who played a key role in organizing the supply and production of attack drones of the type “Shahed-136”, which Russia uses to strike Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure.
Thus, in the autumn of 2022 a group of eight Iranian instructors under the leadership of another IRGC general, Sharifi Molasaraei Abbasi Musa, was present in the occupied territories of Kherson region and Crimea. There they trained Russian servicemen to use kamikaze drones. During these courses, at least 20 UAV launches were carried out against Ukrainian objects protected by international humanitarian law, the suspicion text says.
Abdollah Mehrabi’s role in the war was to establish cooperation between the Iranian military leadership and the Russian Ministry of Defense. He represented Tehran’s interests in negotiations regarding the purchase of weapons and technologies.
According to the investigation, Mehrabi facilitated the signing of contracts for the supply of components for drones which in Russia are labeled as “Geran-2”, and helped organize their mass production at a plant in Tatarstan.
At the beginning of 2023, Russia paid for Iranian technologies and drones with gold bars totaling more than 104 million US dollars. In total, under Mehrabi’s control equipment and spare parts worth more than 324 million dollars were supplied to the Russian Federation. This allowed the occupiers to produce over 13 thousand unmanned aerial vehicles for systematic attacks across the territory of Ukraine.
For this, the Iranian general is suspected under Part 5 of Art. 27, Part 2 of Art. 28, Part 2 of Art. 437 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (aiding in the waging of an aggressive war, committed by prior conspiracy of a group of persons).
