The coastal defense brigades of the Marine Corps officially changed their names as of today.
Sources in all three brigades told MOST about this.
This currently concerns the 34th, 39th and 40th brigades.
The Telegram channel of the 40th brigade has already changed its name.

“We’re no strangers to change, since we’ve already made the journey from a newly formed unit to a full combat brigade. We defended our country in the east and the south — in the Sumy, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv and Kherson regions. We have formed a unit that can do more than was expected of it”, – the brigade commented on the changes.
These are not the first changes in these brigades. Two of them – the 34th and 39th – were formed as 124th and 126th territorial defense brigades, and the 40th brigade, which was formed as the 150th brigade, was mechanized.
In 2024 these brigades were transferred to the 30th Marine Corps. Only the 34th brigade is Kherson by “registration”. The other two call themselves Kherson because they have defended the Kherson region for many years, even though they do not have a local “registration”.
According to our sources, discussions about changing the insignia are currently ongoing in two brigades. They are being stoked by the General Staff’s Heraldry Department.
In the 34th Marine Brigade they want to replace the crab with a reed cat.

In the 39th brigade there is a discussion about preserving the insignia with a heart, an arrow and a saber.
