In Kherson, since September 28, 2023, 2,877 civilians have been killed as a result of Russian drone strikes.
These figures were published in a report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
The report refers to the open-source investigative outlet “Tochnyy” in response to a comment by Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov about a conversation between Putin and Trump regarding drone attacks.
“Ushakov claimed that during the conversation between Trump and Putin they discussed how Ukrainian forces allegedly use “terrorist methods” to strike civilian and energy infrastructure in Russia, as the Russian army maintains strategic initiative on the battlefield. Ushakov emphasized that Ukrainian strikes “force” Russia to respond “accordingly”, – the report says.
At the same time, as ISW noted, Russian forces began systematically and deliberately striking civilian and energy infrastructure and civilians long before Ukraine’s recent campaign of long-range strikes against Russian energy facilities.
Reports of explosive devices being dropped from Russian drones in Kherson and the region appear daily. Thus, on the night of October 17 State Emergency Service workers who were extinguishing a fire after shelling of an apartment building in the city center came under drone attack, while in the morning – the Russian army dropped an explosive device on a minibus.
According to official data, just this morning four people were reported wounded by Russian shelling of Kherson.
