In recent days, Russian forces have launched hundreds of strikes on the Kherson CHP, which led to the halt of its operation.
This was reported on a TV broadcast by the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin.
According to him, the Kherson thermal power plant was attacked by the occupiers with drones, artillery and other weapons.
“Despite measures taken to protect it, the station’s premises and equipment suffered very serious damage. Because of this, the CHP’s operation has been suspended. About 50% of Kherson is now left without heat”, – Prokudin said.
The head of the OVA noted that due to constant shelling and the danger, it is currently impossible to predict the timeframe for repair work.
“The area where the facility is located is under constant strikes. If we send a repair crew or equipment there, we’ll expose them to mortal danger”, – Prokudin emphasized.
The Kherson CHP stopped operating on the morning of December 4. Currently 470 buildings remain without centralized heating supply – that is more than 40.5 thousand customers. The city authorities are considering options for alternative heating for those homes that were previously connected to the CHP.
