LLC “First of May” from Kherson region became the first agricultural enterprise in Ukraine to receive state compensation for humanitarian demining of agricultural land carried out before 2024.
This was reported by the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council.
It is noted that after the occupation the company’s fields were so contaminated with explosives and shells that it was impossible to work on them. In March 2023 the farm signed a contract with “Ukroboronservice” for demining 1470 hectares and spent about UAH 8 million of its own funds on it.
At first the state only reimbursed works planned after the adoption of the relevant procedure, so those farmers who demined fields earlier could not receive compensation.
However, the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council together with the AGRO Program achieved changes – in May the Cabinet adopted Resolution No.580, which introduces compensation for those whose lands were demined before April 15, 2024.
The All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council is ready to continue providing legal and other expert assistance to farmers affected by hostilities or occupation, including on obtaining compensation for humanitarian demining, the website says.
Recall that in October the government expanded the list of persons who will have the right to humanitarian demining of agricultural land, in particular in Kherson region.
According to the latest data from KhOVA, on the right bank of the region 561.1 ha of territory have already been demined, of which 409.5 ha – are fields.
