Law enforcement officers identified a Russian FSB officer who in spring 2022 tortured a civilian resident of Skadovsk District. He was notified in absentia of suspicion of committing a war crime.
This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kherson region.
According to the investigation, the suspect is a 45-year-old resident of Moscow, an officer of the 9th Directorate of the Operational Information Department of the 5th Service of the FSB of the Russian Federation. His involvement was established by employees of the criminal investigation department of the regional headquarters.
Police established that on April 10, 2022, Russian military personnel arrived at the house of a 41-year-old resident of Mykhailivka. After a search, the man was taken to a seized sanatorium in Lazurne and illegally held in a basement premises.
The FSB officer interrogated the victim, demanding information about local volunteers, fundraising for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and locations of weapon storage.
Soon, by order of the FSB representative, a Russian serviceman was involved in the “interrogation”.
He pulled the man’s pants and underwear down and threatened to mutilate his genitals if he did not answer the questions. After this the interrogation continued: the Russian inflicted numerous blows on him and simulated an execution, firing a shot near his head.
Not receiving answers, the FSB officer several times ordered the continuation of beatings and intimidation. The victim had a bag placed over his head twice and his air supply was cut off, causing him to lose consciousness. The man also sustained a contact gunshot wound to the leg.
Throughout the interrogations he remained without underwear. In the evening of the same day the occupiers released him home.
Currently, with the agreement of the regional prosecutor’s office, the suspect has been notified of suspicion in absentia. For the committed act he faces imprisonment for a term of eight to twelve years.
Law enforcement also note that in summer 2023 an indictment was already sent to court regarding this Russian “security officer” – he is implicated in another war crime.
Recall, investigators of the National Police Department in Kherson region announced suspicions against a resident of Crimea, Oleksandr Ulizko, and a resident of the town Hola Prystan, Serhii Buzukin. They are suspected of collaborating with the Russian occupiers and of cruel treatment and torture of civilians.
