A 50-year-old resident of temporarily occupied Skadovsk has been notified in absentia of suspicion of collaboration. He voluntarily agreed to head an illegally created local authority body by the occupiers and ensured the holding of illegal elections.
This was reported by the press service of the Kherson Region Police.
The investigation found that in April 2023 he voluntarily agreed to cooperate with the occupation authorities. He was appointed the so-called head of the Skadovsk Territorial Election Commission.
After that, he immediately began organizing activities related to the illegal elections of deputies to the occupation authority — “Council of Deputies of the Skadovsk Municipal District” — which were scheduled for September of the same year.
The suspect ensured the receipt and processing of candidate lists from Russian political parties, including “United Russia.” He also introduced the use of the Russian Federation’s “state automated system” in the operations of the illegal authority he headed. It was intended to provide information support for the preparation and conduct of illegal elections in the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson region.
In addition, in September 2023 he processed the “commission” protocol on the election results and compiled information, including the number of ballots and deputy mandates.
Finally, the perpetrator determined the election results and officially published them. He issued the decision of the “commission” he headed — the protocol on the results of the pseudo-elections was approved, the “elections” were recognized as having taken place and their results as valid, the political parties of the aggressor state were admitted to the distribution of mandates and their number was established, and the deputies elected to the “council” were determined.
He faces punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of five to ten years, with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of 10 to 15 years, with or without confiscation of property.
Earlier it was reported that the SBU renewed the suspicion against the head of the occupation housing and communal services department of Skadovsk.
