The court sentenced a resident of Skadovsk in absentia to 15 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property for state treason.
This was reported by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
Prosecutors proved that in March 2022 the man established contact with representatives of the Russian forces who occupied the Skadovsk district. He helped shape a positive image of the occupiers, urging local residents to support Russia and distributing so-called humanitarian aid.
Under this pretext, the convict collected personal data of local residents and handed it over to representatives of the aggressor country. He also identified people with a pro-Ukrainian stance who could resist the occupation.
To those who did not support his propaganda, the man threatened imprisonment or physical violence by Russian troops. At his instigation, searches, unlawful detentions and so-called preventive talks were carried out in the homes of local residents.
The sentence was handed down in absentia. The man will serve the punishment after his actual detention.
Recall that an employee of the occupation administration from Bilozerka was found guilty in absentia of collaboration.
