The Security Service and the State Bureau of Investigation detained a former employee of the militarized guard detachment of the regional branch of Ukrzaliznytsia who collaborated with the Russians after the capture of Kherson.
This was reported on the SBU website.
The man guarded Russian military echelons that transported weapons, ammunition, and equipment for Russian forces on the front. After Kherson was liberated, Russian occupying formations left him in the city and fled to the left bank of the region.
The Kherson resident hid in the south of Ukraine in rented accommodations, regularly changing their addresses. The man left the residence only when absolutely necessary and for most of the time did not contact anyone.
He was detained at the end of May 2026.
Earlier, in 2025, the man was notified in absentia of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (state treason committed under martial law).
“The suspect is currently in custody. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property”, – the report says.
