The Vinnytsia City Court handed down a verdict against a citizen of the Russian Federation who had lived in Ukraine for years and, after the start of the full-scale invasion, began spreading Russian propaganda on social networks.
This is stated in the court’s ruling.
The man held a permanent residence permit in Ukraine and lived in Vinnytsia before the full-scale invasion. After leaving for Russia, he began actively supporting Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.
According to the case materials and the conclusions of a linguistic examination, on one of the Russian social networks he spread narratives about “historical belonging” of southern Ukraine to the Russian Federation. In particular, he shared posts claiming that “Kherson Oblast and Crimea are Russia”, as well as manipulative statements that these territories allegedly “have returned home forever”.
In his posts he rejoiced at the capture of Ukrainian cities and called for further occupation, asserting that “the Russian flag has been raised here forever”.
The court in absentia found him guilty under Part 2 of Article 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine) and sentenced him to 10 years of imprisonment with confiscation of all property. In addition, he has been declared internationally wanted.
