The court delivered a verdict against a resident of the Kherson region, Ivan Nosenko, who was accused of disseminating information about the location and movements of Ukrainian military units during martial law.
This is stated in the court ruling.
The investigation established that in 2023 the man lived in the village of Mykilske in the Daryivska community and, via Telegram, told a relative where exactly the equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was stationed and where soldiers were based.
In addition to the deployment addresses, Nosenko sent his brother photographs of destroyed houses and impact sites after Russian shelling. He also reported what time Ukrainian military personnel go to their positions.
In 2024 the man was detained by Ukrainian law enforcement. In court he fully admitted his guilt.
The man did not deny that he had indeed corresponded with his brother and sent him information about servicemen he had seen with his own eyes. He said that he regretted his actions and had learned his lesson.
The court found him guilty of treason and sentenced him to 5 years of imprisonment.
However, he was released from serving the sentence and given a 3-year probationary period.
His mobile phone, which he used to conduct the correspondence, was seized on behalf of the state.
