Freed from Russian captivity, former mayor of Kherson Volodymyr Mykolayenko discussed with the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets the possibility of assistance in the return of captured Kherson residents.
He wrote this on his personal Facebook page.
“I had a meeting yesterday with the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets. We discussed the possibility of assistance in the release of the guys from “Kherson nine”, strengthening the exchange of our prisoners of war, including my comrades from Pakino, the release of Oleksandr Babych. Thank you Dmytro Valeriyovych for your understanding and I hope for a result”, – wrote Mykolayenko.
“Kherson nine” – a group of Ukrainians who were abducted by Russian forces in July–August 2022 and were later declared participants of a “terrorist organization.” Among the “nine” two are former servicemen, the others are civilian citizens.
In the criminal case are Oleg Bohdanov, Serhii Heidt, Serhii Kabakov, Yurii Kaiov, Serhii Ofitserov, Serhii Kovalskyi, Denys Lialka, Kostiantyn Reznyk and Yurii Tavozhnianskyi.
Earlier Volodymyr Mykolayenko delivered a letter to these political prisoners.
