Irrigation restoration projects in the Kherson region are being implemented thanks to state and international support.
This was announced at the 2025 year-end press conference by the head of the Kherson OVA, Oleksandr Prokudin.
The United States has already provided $1 million for restoring irrigation on an area of 1,500 hectares; equipment has been purchased and delivered for the works.
Currently, the Kherson OVA is working to create safe conditions for the installation of new water intakes.
Oleksandr Prokudin reported that MRC Corp allocated $150,000 for the repair of four irrigation machines in the Bilozerka community, which allowed an additional 400 hectares to be irrigated.
“We are negotiating with all international partners, whoever visits. Probably the first question is always about restoring irrigation, because our farmers and the region’s food security depend on it,” Prokudin noted.
In addition, the region introduced a program to compensate 50% of the costs for the construction or reconstruction of reclamation systems, which amounts to 26,500 UAH per hectare.
For local communities, an increase of the compensation to 80% is planned.
To restore irrigated agriculture in Kherson Oblast, they approved the irrigation program for 2025–2027.
Earlier, MOST wrote that in 2025 nearly 100,000 hectares of completely destroyed harvests were recorded in the Kherson region.
