An outbreak of rabies has been recorded in the Velykolepetyska community on the left bank of the Kherson region.
Pro-Russian media report this.
Because of this, they have allegedly started a campaign to vaccinate domestic animals there. Vaccinations are being administered to cats, dogs, as well as to large and small cattle.
Rabies is an acute viral disease of all warm-blooded animals and humans caused by a specific neurotropic virus. The source of the rabies pathogen is infected animals that excrete the virus in their saliva. The main route of virus entry is damage to the skin and mucous membranes as a result of bites, licking, and scratches.
Recall, in the temporarily occupied territories of the Kherson region they note cases of an increasing number of stray dogs. In June this year the occupiers promised to create in Henichesk district a veterinary-quarantine center for homeless animals.
