A resident of Kherson region was found guilty of collaborationist activity for participating in organizing an illegal referendum on the occupied territory of the region.
This was reported by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
By the court’s verdict the woman was sentenced to 6 years imprisonment with confiscation of property. She was also deprived of the right for 15 years to hold positions in government bodies related to organizational-management and administrative-economic functions, as well as to engage in activities related to the electoral process.
The investigation established that in September 2022 the convicted woman joined the so-called precinct election commission that operated in the villages of Odradokamyanka, Mykolaivka and Burgunka of the Tyahyn community. This pseudo-body prepared the holding of an illegal vote on the accession of Kherson region to the Russian Federation.
As “member of the electoral commission” the woman, with lists of potential voters and a portable ballot box, went around the homes of local residents, trying to involve them in participating in the pseudo-referendum. She insisted on placing the required marks in the ballots and kept records of the people who voted.
Until the verdict becomes legally binding the woman will remain in custody.
Earlier we wrote that the head of the occupation administration of the village of Agaymany of the Ivanivka community in Henichesk district, Halyna Kostenko received a sentence for collaborating with the Russians. She was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment with confiscation of all property.
