The first case of bird flu in 2026 was detected in the Skadovsk district of the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson region.
This is reported by pro-Russian media.
“On January 27, near the shore of Dzharylgach Bay eyewitnesses found the carcass of a wild bird. It was taken for testing, the results of which detected this highly pathogenic virus”, – the post reads.
Avian influenza — a type of influenza that affects birds (chickens and turkeys are especially susceptible), as well as some species of mammals.
During an outbreak of avian influenza among birds, there is a possible risk to people who have direct or close contact with infected birds or with surfaces contaminated by secretions or other discharges from infected birds.
