An assassination attempt was made in Moscow on Lieutenant General of the Russian Defense Ministry Vladimir Alekseyev, involved in organizing pseudo-referendums in the Kherson region.
Russian media reported the assassination attempt.
According to their data, an unknown person waited for the serviceman near a residential building on Volokolamskoye Highway, shot him several times and fled the scene.
The wounded Alekseyev was taken to intensive care in serious condition. Russian law enforcement has opened a criminal case; the shooter is being sought.
The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry reported that Alekseyev is a native of Ukraine and studied in Ryazan.
According to intelligence, he was responsible for organizing missile and aviation strikes against Ukraine.
He is also considered one of the creators and curators of PMC “Wagner”, although at the beginning of the mutiny he publicly called on the fighters to lay down their arms.
According to the GUR, Alekseyev was also responsible for legitimizing the Russian presence in the occupied territories by organizing so-called referendums in the Kherson region.
