In Kakhovka in the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson region on December 5, local resident Anatoliy Klosovskyi was found badly beaten near his own house; he had previously been detained by the Russians. The man was taken to the local hospital, where he soon died.
The Center for Journalistic Investigations reports the incident, citing sources in the city.
Klosovskyi was found on Mykhailo Zhuk Street with head injuries. According to residents, he feared hospitalization, but he was still taken to the medical facility. The occupiers’ hospital listed lung cancer as the cause of death, but people who knew the man doubt this version.

After the victim’s death his mobile phone disappeared, and it is currently being used by an unidentified person.
Anatoliy Klosovskyi was a well-known portrait maker for monuments in Kakhovka.
According to local residents, in 2024 Klosovskyi was detained by representatives of the occupation administration after someone’s complaint. After the beating he was left without his phone, tools, and personal belongings, including electric scooters he often used to get around. After that the man had health problems and effectively lost the ability to work.
The Center for Journalistic Investigations reminds that cases of violent crimes against local residents have previously been recorded in the temporarily occupied territory of Kakhovka district. In 2023 four men from Chornyanka abducted and killed a fellow villager because of his pro-Ukrainian position, and the occupation “court” recognized such motives as a “mitigating circumstance”.
