In Kherson, 84-year-old parishioner of the city’s Jewish community, Yevhen Bonder, who a few days ago sustained severe injuries as a result of Russian shelling, has died.
This was written on Facebook by the Chief Rabbi of Ukraine, Moshe Reuven Asman.
According to him, the man sustained multiple shrapnel wounds – fragments of munitions struck his liver, and the arm was injured so severely that doctors had to perform an amputation. Medical staff fought for the victim’s life for several days, but they were unable to save him.
Moshe Reuven Asman emphasized that Yevhen Bonder survived World War II and the Nazi persecutions of Jews, but died as a result of Russian aggression against Ukraine.
“This is the kind of «denazification» that the Russian army has been carrying out on the territory of Ukraine for almost the fourth consecutive year, killing not only Ukrainians, but other nationalities who simply live here peacefully”, – Asman wrote.
