The wear level of Kherson’s heating networks reaches 85%.
This is stated in the Program for the restoration and energy modernization of the community’s heat utility for 2026–2028.
According to the document, the situation is critical, as most pipelines (67%) have been in operation for 26 to 63 years, which significantly exceeds their normative service life.
The condition of the infrastructure significantly deteriorated after the destruction of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant: flooding of facilities caused intensive corrosion of metal structures, equipment, and heating networks.
In addition, constant shelling of the community leads to system depressurization and damage to boiler-house buildings.
Due to damage and the impossibility of safe operation, 11 boiler houses in the city were unable to start operating. This resulted in 96 multi-storey buildings served by the Municipal Utility Enterprise “Khersonteploenergo” being left without centralized heating. This is almost 17% of the total number of buildings in the enterprise’s service area, the document says.
