This year КП “Ritual Service of the city of Kherson” will receive 6 million hryvnias for the purchase of granite memorial complexes.
The corresponding order was signed by the head of the Kherson Military-Civil Administration, Yaroslav Shanko.
The funds are allocated as a contribution to the enterprise’s authorized capital to implement the city program “Funeral Affairs and Cemetery Maintenance”.
The granite complexes are intended to honor the memory of fallen servicemen, as well as persons who took direct part in combat operations.
Note that the “Funeral Affairs and Cemetery Maintenance” program is planned for three years. In total, more than 58 million hryvnias were allocated for its implementation.
Recall that the memorial complex was created in 2015 at the initiative of families of fallen servicemen and with the support of then-mayor Volodymyr Mykolayenko and his adviser Kateryna Handziuk. The project was developed by staff of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory and it was one of the first in Ukraine.
At that time, 300 thousand hryvnias were allocated from the city budget for 15 monuments.
Kherson is perhaps the only city in Ukraine where a similar project has been implemented exclusively at the expense of the city budget.
