The head of the Kherson MCA, Yaroslav Shanko, sees nothing wrong with tearing down kiosks in Kherson, sometimes in a very brutal way.
Yaroslav Shanko shared a video of the dismantling of one of the structures on his social media page, and it caused a stir.
The video shows that the municipal workers only took away the kiosk structure, while the goods that were inside remained.
On social media, users tried to find out what happened to the property and the goods, but there was no answer.
Journalists from MOST contacted Yaroslav Shanko to find out the further fate of these items.
He said that the owners of such structures were warned in advance about violations of the law and the need to remove the structures themselves. Some owners did not dismantle the structures voluntarily, so these works are carried out by the city’s municipal enterprises.
«Property from the dismantled structures does not disappear — it is transported to a special place (I will not say which one for security reasons). Then the appropriate records are drawn up. Owners can apply and retrieve their belongings», — Yaroslav Shanko said.
He also noted that the demolition of such structures in Kherson did not start now — this work has been ongoing for some time. Some objects are also being removed due to their neglected condition.
This work was indeed started by Ihor Kolykhaiev, who, instead of solving real problems, began to tear down Kherson residents’ kiosks and garages at their expense, and with a corrupt element. His successors followed the same path. Roman Mrochko tore down the market “Kristal”, and Yaroslav Shanko has been removing Kherson residents’ business facilities.
By the way, in 2023 the head of the OVA, Oleksandr Prokudin, announced the demolition of other illegal markets, but then the Communal Market on Shumensky was re-registered to KP Servis Opt and the demolition was forgotten.
Currently, a special commission inspects the objects, records violations and controls the demolition process. According to the head of the MCA, the aim of these works is to tidy up the urban space and make Kherson’s streets safer and more comfortable.
