About 700 different systems are operating in Kherson that are used to neutralize Russian drones.
This was reported in an interview with Ukrinform by the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin.
According to him, the system to counter Russian UAVs in the region began to be created at the initiative of the Regional Military Administration (RMA) together with the military, border guards, the National Guard and the police. Later, the “Madyar” unit joined the effort.
Also, in the Kherson region an electronic warfare battalion was created to protect the regional center. It is currently planned to be reorganized into a regiment due to an expansion of its area of responsibility.
According to Prokudin, this unit became a coordination center that unites the work of the military, law enforcement and civilian services to counter drones.
The head of the RMA noted that Russian forces actively use drones, in particular Molniya-type fiber-optic drones, which can carry other FPV drones. Hundreds of such unmanned aerial vehicles are recorded over Kherson every day.
To detect them, motion and sound sensors are used, as well as electronic intelligence systems. After targets are detected, fire groups are dispatched to the locations.
Recall that in 2025, due to Russian shelling of the Kherson region, 307 people were killed, including 6 children. Another 2,564 residents of the region were injured, including 62 children.
