The National Bank of Ukraine has issued a new commemorative coin with a denomination of 10 hryvnias, dedicated to Kherson Oblast. The coin is part of the special series “We are strong. We are together”.
This is reported on the NBU website.
The presentation took place on 24 February 2026. Along with Kherson Oblast, Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia oblasts also received their own coins.
The main feature of the coin’s reverse is a stylized map of Ukraine with clearly delineated administrative borders, on which the territory of Kherson Oblast is highlighted. According to NBU Governor Andriy Pyshnyi, this design underscores the inviolability of the country’s borders and reminds that Kherson is an integral part of a united and indivisible Ukraine.
The coin is made from a zinc-based alloy with a nickel coating. It was issued in a mintage of 2 million – specifically for Kherson Oblast.
The reverse design of the coins was created by Oleksandra Kuchynska, the obverse artist is Volodymyr Demyanenko, and the sculptor is Volodymyr Demyanenko.
It is noted that this coin is not purely a collectible — it is legal tender. The NBU will gradually introduce it into cash circulation.
The issuance of similar coins will continue throughout 2026–2027, until all oblasts of Ukraine receive their own symbols.
Recall that, on the occasion of the third anniversary of Kherson’s liberation from Russian occupation, Ukrposhta issued another personalized postage stamp “Kherson 11/11/22”.
