The Telegram messenger remains the absolute leader among sources of information for residents of Kherson — it is used by 91% of respondents. Despite such popularity, the level of trust in the platform is low.
This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by the charitable organization “Kherson City Community Foundation ‘Zakhyst’.”.
The study recorded that although almost every Kherson resident reads news on Telegram, 51% of respondents consider these channels the main hub for the spread of fakes and disinformation.
Meanwhile, the role of traditional television continues to decline sharply — only 14% of those surveyed watch it. At the same time, conversations with acquaintances and relatives remain a critically important source for 42% of respondents.
By a large margin, the most in-demand topic remains news about shelling and the security situation. However, the city’s information space shows a significant deficit of practical data, the study says.
Kherson residents often cannot find verified information about the procedures for receiving social services and the schedules and locations for providing humanitarian aid.
