A court in Vinnytsia found Andriy Sprynchan, the head of the so-called Main Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of the self-proclaimed Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, guilty of state treason and encroachment on the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
This is stated in the court’s verdict.
As law enforcement established, Sprynchan, being a citizen of Ukraine, headed an illegal structure and organized the operation of propaganda channels on Telegram, Viber, Instagram and VK under the name “Pridnestrovets”.
Thus, Sprynchan and his subordinates spread publications that directly called for the annexation of Ukrainian territories, including the Kherson region.
The court cited specific posts as evidence that promoted occupation: “The liberated Kherson region will strive to become one of the subjects of the Russian Federation…”; “Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions will become part of Russia”; “A Russian flag proudly waves over the building of the Kherson city administration” etc.
There were also publications on the propaganda channels that called for the occupation and shelling of other regions of Ukraine.
Andriy Sprynchan was found guilty in absentia under four counts – encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine, state treason, war propaganda and justification of armed aggression.
He was sentenced to 10 years in prison with confiscation of all his property in favor of the state.
