The court handed down a verdict against the current deputy of the Kalanchak settlement council, Svitlana Kovalenko, who headed the occupation Council of Deputies in the temporarily occupied territories (TOT) of Kherson region.
This is stated in the relevant court verdict.
As the investigation established, in September 2023 Kovalenko took part in illegal elections for the Russian party “United Russia” and became a member of the occupation Council of Deputies of the so‑called Kalanchak municipal district.
On September 19 of the same year, at the first session she was elected chair of this illegal council.
In this position Kovalenko coordinated the work of the fake body and signed decisions on the appointment of deputies and the creation of permanent commissions.
In addition, she ensured the organization of the election of the head of the local occupation administration.
