Kherson City Court delivered a verdict against local resident Lyudmyla Strygunova, who during the occupation voluntarily went to work for the occupying authorities.
This is stated in the relevant court verdict.
As the investigation found, in August 2022 Strygunova headed the illegally created Bilozerske District branch of the Kherson Regional Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology.
In this position she managed the unit, selected personnel, divided duties among employees and monitored discipline.
After the de-occupation of the Kherson region Strygunova moved to Odesa. It was there that in May 2024 she was detained by Ukrainian law enforcement.
During the proceedings the woman entered into a plea agreement with the prosecutor. She fully admitted her guilt and promised to help the investigation expose other collaborators who worked at the same institution.
The court took into account her sincere remorse, assistance to the investigation, advanced age and serious illness.
Lyudmyla Strygunova was sentenced to 2 years and 1 month in prison. She was also banned for 10 years from working in government bodies or providing public services.
Since the woman was detained in 2024, and all the time in custody was counted toward the sentence on a “day for day” basis, Lyudmyla Strygunova was released from custody.
Despite the fact that the term of imprisonment has ended, the Russian money seized during the search — 15,400 rubles — will be confiscated from her, and she must also pay over 6,815 hryvnias for conducting a forensic handwriting examination.
Also, during searches they found $4,680, €1,860 and 58,200 hryvnias. She voluntarily decided to give the money to the Ukrainian army.
