A community elder in the Kherson region who coordinated Russian attacks was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
This was reported on the SBU’s page.
The Security Service uncovered the Russian agent in November 2025 for coordinating shelling of the right bank of the Kherson region.
As the investigation found, the targeting of Russian attacks was carried out by an elder of one of the settlements of the Novokakhovska community who had been recruited by the FSB.
During the occupation of the region in 2022, the man compiled lists of residents of his community for the Russian Federation to hold a pseudo-referendum.
At that time he received a Russian passport from the occupation administration, which he planned to use to leave for Russia.
However, after the liberation of the region’s right bank he did not manage to flee to the Russian Federation and initially “laid low” in his settlement.
Later he began posting anti-Ukrainian comments in Telegram channels, where he came to the attention of the Russian special service.
“After recruitment, the traitor monitored temporary deployment points of the Defense Forces that the Russians were preparing to strike with rocket artillery and guided aerial bombs. To collect intelligence, the agent covertly questioned fellow villagers and also visually observed the movement of Ukrainian military convoys,” – the post reads.
The elder also involved his mother in collaborating with the Russians; she helped him track the locations of the Defense Forces.
“The agent was then supposed to travel to a neighboring region to adjust Russian shelling of the Mykolaiv region. But SBU counterintelligence detained him while he was preparing for the agent’s «assignment». During searches, a smartphone with evidence of working for the FSB and a Russian passport were found on him,” – the SBU reported.
The court found the man guilty under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (state treason committed during martial law).
