The court imposed a preventive measure on the technical supervision engineer who was supposed to inspect the construction of one of Kherson’s underground schools.
This is stated in the relevant court ruling.
It concerns the construction of an anti-radiation shelter for Kherson School No. 41.
According to the investigation, the engineer signed acceptance certificates for works from the local company “Budpostach-STSV” with inflated volumes of materials. Moreover, concrete of significantly lower strength than required by the project was used on the site.
Because of this, the Capital Construction Department of the Kherson City Council unjustifiably transferred over UAH 8.8 million to the company.
The prosecutor asked the court to set for the engineer the maximum bail for this crime — over UAH 66,000. However, the lawyer insisted on the minimum bail, since his client is a pensioner, previously had no legal problems and supports an elderly mother. In addition, the man fully admitted his guilt.
The judge took into account the suspect’s personal circumstances and halved the amount, approving it at UAH 33.2 thousand.
In addition to depositing the money, the engineer was ordered to surrender his international passports, appear before the investigator on first demand, and not communicate with employees of the Infrastructure Department of the Kherson Regional State Administration.
Recall that the former head of “Budpostach-STSV” Oleksandr Novokhatskyi, who is suspected of embezzling budget funds in the construction of the shelter for the same school, is not in custody. The prosecutor asked to send him to pretrial detention, but the court refused.
Another engineer, who was supposed to supervise the construction of another shelter for a Kherson school, was also released on bail. And he was too prohibited from communicating with employees of the Infrastructure Department of the Kherson RSA.
